All voices matter, or do they really?

In today’s world, one may think that everyone’s voice counts. Even though every citizen on this planet is a small part of someone’s target market and that through technology it has never been easier to capture the voice of people, does really every voice matter?   

Take customer satisfaction for example. Say that 8 out of 10 say they are very satisfied with the care service they get. What does that mean? Besides the fact that at that specific point in time, when being asked, 8 out of 10 of the 53% that answered the survey were satisfied. There are so many questions left to be answered?  

  • What about the other days?  
  • What about the other 47%?  
  • What happened just before they got to answer the survey?  
  • Are we sure they answered the survey or was it relative or assistant?  

Do you really care?

The famous quote, coined by the industrialist Henry Ford, founder of Ford Motor Company and the father of the modern assembly line technique of mass production put a spotlight on the very question, should we even care what customers, employees, partners, society as a whole think, feel, perceive? 

The answer is yes, and here’s why 

We are living in a society where alternative suppliers or employers are just a click away. Benchmarking and comparing everything have never been easier. Being unique is truly a rarity. You can be sure that the second after you have offered something unique, someone else is offering something slightly better around the corner. In the connected world of today, that corner can be on the other side of the globe. 

Why you should care! 

So, what’s the point of asking then?  

Because as simple as it may seem, asking and getting feedback is still the best way to get a receipt that what you are doing keeps your audience engaged with you and your brand, being it your customers or employees or any other stakeholder.

Now here’s the challenging part. If you really believe that every voice counts, are you committed to really listen?  

Btw, in case you wonder, the cost for not listening to customers in general (not faster horses in particular) made Ford Motor lose a substantial market share against their main competitor General Motors.
